Тема: Rosetta Stone: to be or not to be?

Hi guys,

Has anyone taken a look at Rosetta Stone app for learning English? Is it good, bad, neither? :)

I heard a lot of good feedback about it, so now I'm hesitating whether to buy a subscription for learning German there...

I tried it once but didn't really get how it works (it was windows version of it) and it looked too bloated to me.
Btw I've been learning German for consecutive 87 days on Duolingo.

Well, afaik the main idea of RS is speaking, that's why I decided to choose it.
Which kind of problems have you got with it?

When I was trying it I had to install some software on my PC that was pretty laggy and nonintuitive so I couldn't figure out what to do with it. It was like more than 5 years ago I guess, so now everything might me much better.

As an English teacher and a person who tried learning other languages, I recommend these things:
1) - get yourself a study buddy
2) get yourself some interesting content in English - TV shows, movies, TED talks, some courses, articles and foreign forums
3) if choosing between Rosetta Stone or another self-study course - go for Pimsleur (I tried it for Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese)
4) stop avoiding English but go for it, dive into it
5) Do something for English every day for at least 15 min. It's all about regularity

If nr 5 doesn't work, just get yourself a tutor. Very few people can really do all of the above without a tutor.
